Beginners

It can be a bit daunting starting your own garden especially if you have no experience to draw upon. There are so many things to think about and lots of people telling you what you can or can’t do. If you look online to try and find out what you should be doing or how to go about it, there are so many websites (such as this one), Instagram pages, Facebook pages, a lot of which are by people who don’t really know what they are doing themselves and often giving bad advice. So how do you know who to trust? Unfortunately I cannot tell you how as a beginner you can tell which sites are trustworthy or not, but I would suggest trying the well known sites first such as the RHS or Gardeners World or of course this web site first and compare what advice they offer. I hope that you will learn that you can trust my advice, I have been a gardener most of my life. When I left school I worked for the Leeds City Council parks department, where I did an apprenticeship in horticulture. After leaving the parks department I went on to do landscaping, where I furthered my knowledge of hard landscaping (including, Walling, Paving, Pond Building and design etc.) This section I am setting up specifically for the beginners out there. I will be covering the use of tools, how to pick them and what to avoid, designing a simple garden, growing vegetables, taking cuttings and growing from seed. It will take me some time to add this information so please bear with me but do let me know if there is anything in particular that you would like some advice about. You can email me using the link at the bottom of this page. You can keep up to date with what we are doing by following us on Instagram .
