Products

Here are some of the products that I have used either at home or on the allotment

Aluminium Square Garden Hoops

I use these as a frame work for protecting the onions on the allotment against allium leaf miner. Click here for these hoops

Agralan Enviromesh Ultrafine

This is the netting that I use to protect my Onions, Garlic and Leeks from allium leaf miner at the allotment. Click here for this netting

Galvanised Steel Hoops

The first of these I bought from First Tunnels several years ago. At home I have been using these covered in polytunnel plastic for growing early and late salad crops. Then during the summer I remove the plastic and use them in the same way I do at the allotment, to cover them with netting and keep the pigeons off. These are 5ft hoops. Click here for First Tunnels

Solar panel kit

I installed this to provide power for the watering system. Full installation instruction were given and I am happy with the system. Check out their website

Mushroom Compost

I use mushroom compost on my veg beds as a topping to my own compost. I have not found anywhere locally where I can buy it loose so my options are to get it delivered either in bulk bags or bagged. I have found the cheapest per litre and most convenient for moving to the allotment to be a 3000litre pallet of 40 bags from CPA Horticulture Click here for this

Polytunnel

The polytunnel that I bought from First Tunnels is a 20ft x 10ft Tunnel. I did also buy several extras these being ventilation, ventilation cover, hanging bars, rail for guttering, Bench rails for one side and sliding single doors.

Timber used for the shed

All the wood I used for the shed is treated. I have also then painted them with creocote for extra protection. 100mm x 100mm sawn wood post Cladding Scandy EX 125mm x 16mm Framework timber 100mm x 47mm T and G Board If you decide to build your own shed as we did. Spend some time to work out how many of each timber you require.
